Christians and Conversions

“You guys are into proselytizing! Why can’t you stop converting people where ever you go! There is only one God and no matter which path you take, you will reach him.” These are some statements as a Christian and Christians around the world would hear at least once in his or her life time. Christians are chided for saying “There is no other way to God and eternity other than through Jesus Christ” It is also seen as lack of tolerance towards other religions and faith. But my question is have you ever asked any Christian “Why are you doing what you are doing?” Most probably the answer would be “No!”  “Why is it so?” What’s stopping you from asking them? Is it your preconception about Christians that we don’t have any other job other than sharing the faith that we firmly believe in?

Imagine if Christianity was an enterprising religion; this world would have been converted by now! We have had the so-called-Christian nation ruling most of the earth. Even now, the majority of the world follows the Christian faith! If power were to be yielded for the expansion, conversion would have been as easy as walking into a park. So what made Christians not do it? It is simple because we want the conversion of heart not that of religion! Christ didn’t come to establish a religion “Christianity” he came to reconcile man to God, to establish the broken relationship between man and God. As Christians this is what we are trying to do, we want you to restore your relationship with God. And not feel mighty proud of ourselves that “man I have got one more into the bunch!” oh no! We don’t feel great when the religion “Christianity” grows but we do when a soul is rescued from the pits of darkness, from the clutches of sin and evil. Our greatest concern is to see you in the eternity that Christ has promised!

Money to convert people!

“Can’t you guys stop giving money to people to convert people?” Please let me know someone who is doing that I myself am in need of money! Do you know that there are preachers, missionaries and lay people in Christian faith who find it hard to fill their stomach at least one time a day! Think about this if we were so super rich we could have bought the entire nations! Why should we struggle so much? Why should we get beaten up by the radicals? Why should we give up our lives for the gospel when there is an easy way out? People think about it! We Christians, financially, are someone like you! We work hard to earn money! We are also scrupulous in spending the money! And we are not using it to buy everyone that we find to become Christians!

Why we are doing what we are doing?

Do you really want to know why we are doing what we are doing? It because of the love of Christ compels us! Read the following from the Bible 2 Corinth 5:14-20.  14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. This is the reason why we are doing what we are doing! We do it not for financial gain, nor do we do it for adding numbers. We do it because Christ came into this world to die: for you and me! And through Him there is hope for you, salvation for your soul. All you have to do is to pray to “Jesus, I want you my savior from the sins I have committed and I accept you as my Lord over my life. You will be born again and you will enjoy the company of God.

Many believe that once you accept Christ your life would be a bed of roses, no! I don’t believe in it. Christ says “in this world you will have trouble, be of good cheer because I (Christ) has overcome this world.” (John 16:33) As Christians we are waiting expectantly for the eternal Kingdom of Christ. Christ is waiting for you, so that you can be hier in the Kingdom of God.  This world with all the land, pleasure and riches is nothing compared to the coming world of God. We want you to join with us, will you?
