a mallu goes to mumbai for the first time!!!

How does a mallu feel in a place which is totally different from his? Does he love the new circumstances? or is he annoyed by what he sees?
Mumbai considered to be a dream city for many Indians and also a place to go and make their dreams come true, a place to build careers and even more importantly, a city that accepts you as you are or for what you wear and so on. Wear a goatie and except for the police, no one will treat you as an alien. A city where I felt time seem endless but at the same time valuable as well. Why endless and valuable ?? Simply because the city never sleeps and everyone out here seems to be running a race against time as if the world is nearing its end and they have got to finish off the job that has been alloted to them. From morning till evening, the sight of busy bodies running around to earn a meal for themselves for that day is quite absorbing and enthralling. Just imagine the countless steps that have tread on its soil and its so much so that even if I'm given eternal life, I don't know how successful would I be in counting all of them.
The first glimpse that I got of this great city was its never-ending stretch of slums and I felt disgusted. But all this seemed like a mirage once I took a tour around and I felt guilty for being prejudistic. Whoever comes for the first time sees and is swept off his/her feet by the city's cosmopolitan lifestyle, and I must admit that I'm no exception. So contrasting is the way of life in this city, that there is a very obvious and visible line between the rich and poor, in their sense of fashion, their lifestyle and its so much of a stark difference from what I get to see back home in Trivandrum. Talking about the city of Trivandrum, where even the term 'quiet' seems quite mediocre for the so horribly dead and lousy way of life. Another fact that caught my eye in Mumbai city was the carefree and happy-go-lucky nature of the people. Almost every car that I saw had scratch, which is hard to find in trivandrum. I believe that they don't fight even if something happens to their car and i would say that would be an entirely different scenario in trivandrum.

As i was going thru out the city, its vibrancy displayed thru the opulent malls, the sideways transformed to ramp walks. never in my trivandrum life i saw this kind of lifestyle. roads slithering like arteries and making the city a lot more confusing and adventurous. its the place called the reclamation that caught my eyes. by its side i saw young people cuddled in each others hands, some kissing and others did something which i don't want to write. i was feeling how our thoughts are influenced by the western culture, its as if were waiting for something to fall in. i don't want to do a moral policing but it really pains me when i see the youth of our country failing on their responsibility to take this nation to the next level. we are forget that a country needs strong family to keep it united. and strong families are in the hands of the 'now' youth. today, the youth needs to be more focused, build strong relationship and not fumbling ones or 'one night stands' that's been eating the purity of relationship.
recently i heard a shocking news from a doctor friend of mine- aunties made pregnant by their sister's son, and immature girls coming for abortion. where are heading to? don't we have the responsibility to build a safe and pure nation?
