The always-in-hurry newspaper boy throws the bundle of newspaper onto my veranda. He rings the bell on his cycle before he moves to the next house. With the bundle in my hand I don’t have the faintest idea what it holds- Good news or no-news? Opening up the folds I find the words “rape, inflation...” yea it is best morning that one could have (oops...sarcasm)! With all the titillating news and the not so titillating one like rupee is plummeting, what more could one ask for? Nothing! Hello editor my mind is full, thanks for filling it with J to the U to the NK! The chai utterly looses its taste and the morning is no more "good!" My mind has been captured by the devils on the paper. I wonder if evil has new abode! Is it my mind or the neighbourhood that I’m living?
The paper revolutionary in me is rising, I want to write something! I want to retaliate! So I rush to my room and switch on the computer and voila the Microsoft word is opened along with blogger! I type few words, ah nothing is working! I need to cook up something! But I have nothing! Where is the masala? It is finished! I walk up and down the stairs and brush my teeth. My mind is still searching for the ideas that have been hiding! Where is thy ammunition? Calls out a devil! And I say here, it is coming! Turn around, show me your posterior, I’m going to kick it so bad that you will not dare to come back!
Crime, criminals, lawlessness and injustice thrives among the minds that think "judge me not, so that I may not judge you!" This ideology stems from the thought that “we all are fallen and no fallen can judge another fallen!” but is that so? If we are following this rule why does our temperature rise when 5 year old is raped? Somebody killed someone, so what? Why do we run around holding the placards that says “we want justice?” for whom are we showing this righteous face of ours? Are we saying that we are righteously hypocritical?
We are living in a time that says anything that hampers my comfort is your boundary line to come inside! I will watch porn... oh that is so natural. Nature made me like that! Oh somebody is raped, come let us put a black dot on our Facebook profile. Let us go out create chaos but we will not do anything against porn because it is natural! Hello hypocrite, hope you are having a great day! How dare you call me a hypocrite? How dare you judge me? Come clean and then judge me! This is our mindset; this is the way we think. I’m not excluding me from list. We like to protest and get beaten up when someone switches on the "justice" "righteous" button inside of us. When we look at sleaze, our pleasure button is pushed on! The other buttons are switched off automatically. We cannot individualize evil, we cannot say “this is good evil or that is bad evil” Evil is evil, no matter how many layers of sheep skin it covers it with.
The change that we have been looking for all these years cannot be found outside of us, it is well within us! Look inside before we start pointing. The fingers that point towards us are the most important fingers! If we clean the whole house without cleaning its corners the house is still unclean! It is not half-clean but unclean! Let us not start whining against the law and lawmakers. Yes they are here to do their part but more than that we have to do ours. We have to be responsible; we have to ask for forgiveness when my brother or sister errs. We will have to stand for the people who are getting hurt. We will have to judge! Even when it hurts us or people! We will have to start cleaning the house in which God breathed spirit lives- ourselves. One thing that have seen in my life is that most of the time I'm not able to see my mistakes. It's my friends and people who love me and want me to grow that finds it for me. I'm forever grateful to God for them. We need each other to grow into perfect beings. the effort that we need from our part is to carry a heart and life that is teachable. Sometimes it might be hard for us to change but with God it is easy.
When God breathed life into our nostrils, it was made perfect for all good and not evil. Our decision to disobey invited the evil. The evil around us will part only when we look back to God. No matter how hard the law is on the evil, evil will still thrive. The years that we have lived are a testimony to it. The solution to our problem lies in the hands of a Perfect Being. Only the One who is perfectly good can bring us back to goodness. Let us return to our Maker.
