I sold creativity for soup
I was a tired man, searching for a piece of bread and a little glass of water in this desert. Do you know I had to wage a war against my enemies, why? They wanted something precious from me; it’s a gift from my father’s father and his father and his father. Now, you know how precious this was. I carry it even when I go to the loo. I can’t part from it even for a moment. So you may ask me the reason why I’m in desert? Its simple the war was in a luscious green valley and I was the only one to stand against. People say that “friend in need is a friend indeed” but it is not true! Why? These so called friends of mine had spied this precious thing of mine to my enemies. Now you may ask me what my need was. My need was simple I wanted them to keep the precious a secret. But, now the whole world knows about it. So, now you know what I meant. And, do you know people can be confusing at times, don’t believe? Read what I have written till now. Now you know the reason why I said. So back to the story, the war that began in the morning was so intense that I had to run like man who had red hot chilly and the nearest source of water was 10 miles away. Some of you may think this doesn’t make sense. Well if you would like to believe that believe it! But I have to write it down. Running like a foolish vagabond I reached this desert called desert. (If I knew its name I would have told you) this desert is just like any other desert, dry golden sand, no plants, no life and hot air. And it’s real hard to live in such condition. Do you know when the war happened? In the morning like the usual wars, the only difference was that I was the only warrior on my side. And do you know why I’m not being followed now? You can guess it and you did it right! Yes! People! They thought that I would die of thirst and desert. And do you know people can be wrong in their thoughts? Don’t believe? Read on. This desert can cause strange weird feeling right in the middle of it or when you are in its middle. Do you know what I thought? I hope you see the films, if not, watch one and start reading from here. In films you see the protagonist (or hero) like me chased to the desert, the only thing that differentiates us is that when he comes. A beautiful lady from heaven or somewhere lands up, right in the middle of the desert. And she has a pitcher full of water, she runs to him. Sees his face and says in her heart Oh! My prince has come! She lays him on her lap. Both start to sing songs and after the song they are in Paris, shopping! Oh my God! I prayed when will my heroine come? But none came to my prayer. So like a mad man in road, here, in the desert, stood a mad man, you know I can’t sit, you very well know what will happen! Nonetheless, I started singing; soon I heard sound of hoofs’ rumbling towards me at spectacular speed. Oh my heart leaped in joy, I said to my self “you’re wait hasn’t gone worthless, soon you will be in Hawaii!” grinning inside I saw a large camel standing in front of me. Slowly it took one of its legs from the ground and gave a large seal on my forehead. Turning its back towards me and pushing some of the red hot sand towards my wounded face, it went back in the same spectacular speed as it came to me. Was I able to follow it? Again you guessed it right, no! The first step I took it was into pit, and then the second, the third and the fourth and the fifth and the sixth and it went on till I counted hundred and reached nowhere. It was the time that I realised only if I had succumbed to what they said. I would be in some great valley drinking vine. A tear came to my face and I licked it, it’s the only water my frail body has now. But the gift from my forefathers began to work, it is just like what we have in Hindi serials a bright light coming from heaven, it shines and shimmers and finally lands on my head. Giving me more power(shakti) and budhi (wisdom) that I begin to fly like superman over the desert, landing in my enemies camp where I use my shakti to send thousands of arrows killing all my enemies instantly. And using the budhi and Shakti I clean up the mess. And I laugh like an Asuran*….it goes like this he..he…heee…haa.hhhaaaa…he…hee…haaaa. So now you know what desert and solitude can do to a person (lesson 1) good! Then in a distant I see a spy (before friend) coming to me. He tells me he is sad at what I’m now. And gives me a bowlful of chicken soup mixed with mutton soup. And bucket of KFC crispy and original chicken. And like a loving mother he looks at me eating, I smile like a toddler. After eating and then washing my hands with sprite. He points his finger to my chest and commands to give him the precious. I say no, and then he points his finger to hot, humid and dry desert to my front. Turning to my back he points at the KFC’s, pizza huts and a big fridge* full of Sprite. And tells me- choose. You are genius people, you know what happened? But I don’t want it to be that way, so I rewrite it with some fantasy. I say to the spy “I don’t want your KFC and Sprite and never will I give my precious. And takes my step to the dry desert except my eyes, right then I see a light from heaven flashing on me and I vanish.
Lesson 2: never give up or part with precious things like- creativity, self-respect and respect for others, your belief (except the belief that killing people will take you to heaven), family, purity, charity and good things for anything of this world like money, sex and luxury. If you do these God will respect you for your stand and take you to higher levels. Believe me you will never wander in desert, like me, not for a single sec. It’s the word of God and not of a human. (No, I’m not God!)
If this story has any resemblance to any of the story written and to be written, it’s not my problem. And if you feel if this story has made a change in you and you want to know more about God please feel free to contact me. (Put your email id in the comment box I will write back to you.) God bless!
